At FitClub, we pride ourselves on being a different type of health club. We recognize that making a commitment to get fit and lead a healthier life should be one of the best and most rewarding decisions in a person's life, and we are here to help you achieve fitness success. Over the years, we have seen first-hand what works and what doesn't for people trying to make positive health changes. Getting and staying fit can be challenging, and we are here to help simplify things for you. That is why we, in conjunction with some of the top fitness research professionals at dotFIT, have developed our four pillars of fitness success: nutrition, exercise, supplements, and coaching. These are the four components that shape any successful fitness endeavor. From fitness novices to professional athletes, the four pillars hold the key to fitness success for everyone.
1st Pillar, Nutrition: Depending on the research you read, nutrition accounts for between 70 and 80% of all fitness results; this is why nutrition is the first, and most critical, of the four pillars of fitness. No matter what your goal is, nutrition provides the fuel (calories) your body needs to help get you there, and this pillar will ultimately end up determining the effectiveness of the other three. Almost every fitness goal involves weight management, and calorie consumption is the most important factor in successfully achieving weight management. In order to lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume. At FitClub, we encourage all of our members to track their calorie consumption, and we include a subscription to the dotFIT website with your membership to help you do this. The website will also estimate the number of calories you burn throughout the day so you have an idea of whether or not you are on pace to achieve your goals. If you really want to be serious about weight management, we also offer the revolutionary dotFIT exerspy for sale or lease. 2nd Pillar, Exercise: In addition to watching the amount of calories you consume, it is also critical to examine how you burn calories. Remember, you can only achieve healthy weight loss by burning more calories than you consume. In fact, to lose one pound of fat per week, you need to burn on average 500 more calories than you consume every day. Exercise is the only healthy and sustainable way to achieve this kind of calorie deficit. There are two primary types of exercise that help you burn calories: resistance training and aerobic exercise; both are very important to achieving your fitness goals. Resistance training helps your body maintain and build lean muscle, which is a key part of boosting the amount of calories you burn throughout the day. Did you know that one pound of fat burns 2 calories per day while a pound of muscle burns 50? Over time, resistance training will dramatically increase the amount of fat you burn passively throughout the day! Aerobic exercise is also important, and is the best way to burn calories while you are in the gym. Because aerobic exercise raises your heart rate and keeps it at an elevated level throughout the workout, it not only burns more calories, but also improves your cardiovascular conditioning, which reduces risks of a myriad of health problems. Both forms of exercise are very important, but we have noticed that many members focus on one and ignore the other. To solve this problem, we have begun to encourage our members to engage in functional training, which effectively blends both strength and cardiovascular training in one workout!
3rd Pillar, Supplements: Supplementation is always a very important part of achieving fitness results. This is particularly true when weight loss is your goal and calories need to be cut from your diet. Unfortunately, with a decrease in calories comes a decrease in the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that your body needs to support itself and recover from your workouts; this is where supplements come in. Using supplements such as a multivitamin, nutrient-dense meal replacement bars and shakes, and branch chain amino acids, you can give your body all the fuel it needs to properly nourish, replenish, and repair itself. Without supplementation, you run the risk of experiencing deficiencies in essential proteins, vitamins, and minerals, which can lead to muscle loss, increased risk of injury, and adverse health effects later in life. At FitClub, all of our members have free access to the dotFIT online nutritional platform, which will give you guidance on what supplements are right for you based on your specific body type, level of physical activity, dietary habits, and goals.
4th Pillar, Coaching: The final piece of the puzzle is coaching or accountability. For many, this means working with a NASM certified personal trainer, for some this simply means having a workout partner that can motivate you to show up and push yourself to reach your goals. The key point of accountability is that it must extend into your everyday life, not just the hour or two you spend in the club. Working with a personal trainer gives you a coach that will keep you accountable and make sure you stay on the right track both in your workout and in your diet and habits outside of FitClub. We have worked hard to make our personal trainers available to all of our members, and we are continually improving our offerings. We have recently pioneered FitClub Performance Training, which is an innovative new personal training platform with a focus on group training and group accountability. The goal is to make access to a highly qualified fitness professional more affordable and make a healthy lifestyle fun and social. We have found that group training leads to higher levels of accountability, as participants form friendships and support one another on their path to fitness success. Under the guidance of a master trainer, these new programs are ideal for anyone who feels the need for coaching and accountability in their exercise routine. Plus, they will make you feel better than you ever have before!
No other club will help you combine the four pillars of fitness in such a seamless and easy way. We are dedicated to helping you reach your goals, and by helping you integrate the four pillars of fitness into your exercise routine, we promise that we can help you achieve the results you have been looking for!
